    Thank you so much!!!

We had a great year this year at the poker run -- what a blast!!! Everyone had such a great time yesterday, as always!! Madd Dog, Last Call, Blues in a Bottle, and Mike and Bernie Acoustics rocked the Pavillion at the American Legion, we had a bunch of great prizes to hand out, the food was phenomenal, and once again we all banded together to have another kick-ass day!!! We will be working over the next week or so to calculate the total we collected and get the thank you letters out, but I want everyone to know how much we appreciate everything everyone did to support us. Thanks!!!

    Gino's -- What a place!!

We had our last pre-poker run meeting, and all got a reminder of how wonderful people can be. Nancy Miller, a woman whom none of us knew, was having dinner at a table close by our meeting table. She walked over to us with a check for $25.00 – just because she knows how hard it is to get donations!!! Her doing this gave us all pause to remember that people are good, and willing to help a person in need.

Gino’s gave us 4 $25.00 gift certificates again, which will be going into some of the top ten poker hands. They have great food, exceptional service, and I highly recommend it! We also got a ton of other gift certificates with members of our team went out and got – we have over 60 gift certificates and a ton of give-away items ready to go, but you have to be there to get them! We also have had a bunch of bottles donated, and have picked up 42 already – that’s not including the rest we still have to get. These are all going for our “Wheelbarrow of Cheer” raffle, and you have to be in it to win it. We also have been collecting a lot of money for the 50/50 raffle, and are almost at $1,000 before the event even started!! Get yourself to the American Legion on Sunday, and you can buy tickets – they are only $1.00 each or 6 for 5.00.

We can’t wait to see you there!

McCauley's -- the count down is on!

    Hey everyone,

We had our meeting this past Thursday at McCauley's Tavern in Poughkeepsie, NY. The place was ju,mping, and we had some of the greatest pizza around! We also got some great doantions in the past week: a 40 year old bottle of Bushmill's Irish Whiskey from Gentleman Jims, gift certificates from Ranting and Raving Leathers, Zack's V-Twin, La Puerta Azul, Millbrook Carraige House, Acropolis Diner, Overlook Naskarts, Noah's Ark, Diamond Green Driving Range, and Foam and Wash Car Wash to name a few., We also got some more great bottles from the Road House, Seany B's 101, Anchor Pub, Arlington Grille, and the White House for the Wheel Barrow of cheer raffle -- be on the lookout for it the day of the run! Dutchess Beer also hooked us up again with a ton of give-away items to hand out --people coming to the run and the party after are potentially in for some sweet treats! Over the next few days, we will be running around, picking up the last of the donations, setting up food donations, and doing anti-rain dances!

Our last meeting is next Thursday @ Gino's in Poughkeepsie -- we are looking forward to a good meal while getting the final touches set up for our meeting!!! See you next Sunday if not before!

    Mahoney's is Great!!!

    Hey everyone,

We had our meeting last night at Mahoney's in Poughkeepsie last night, and I cannot say enough about the support they provided to us. It was easy to meet there because the staff was so accomodating, food and drink were great, and they gave us 10 gift certificates for prizes at the Poker Run -- which is only about two and a half weeks away at this point! We have been collecting donations from alot of different places, and even with the struggles people are having economically, there are so many we need to thank because they dug in again to help us out. The Brown Derby, River Station, Gentlman Jim's, Millbrook Carraige House, Village Wines and Spirits, Viscount Liquors, Junior's, Uno's in Poughkeepsie, Darby O'Gills, Tuscan Grille, Stop n SHop, Hannaford's, Royco, etc. I will put up a full list of all the donors soon as they are still coming in. Our next stop on the list is McCauley's in Poughkeepsie, who have also been fabulous to us over the years. Everything is reallyt coming together, and we could not do it without the incredible team we have working on this as well as the community for their support. Thanks everyone!!!

    Back to the Dutch!!!

We had a change of plans last night, and went back to the Dutch Cabin for our meeting. Again, I cannot say enough about the service or the quality of the food we had last night, and the staff was so accomodating to our ever-growing group of volunteers!!! We now have four six foot wedges being donated, as well as about 250 -- 300 ribs, 15 pounds of pasta, tons of bottles for our wheel barrow of cheer, and a bunch of cookies for dessert!!! The list of donations keeps getting longer, but I would like to make a shout-out to the Dutch Cabin, Art Sickler, No Bolonga Deli, B &L Deli, and Gentlman Jim's --- thanks for the love and support!!
Our next meeting is on 9/17 @ Mahoney's, another great place which has brought us love and donations since the beginning. Thanks to everyone who is showing us support!!!

    What a night!!!

We went to Gentleman Jim's for our last meeting, and as always everything was top notch!! Each night has it's own special on food at the bar, and we took advantage by getting wings and some other yummies!!! I highly recommend the Soft Shell Crab sandwich by the way, my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it! Adam and Vanessa behind the bar are also great -- Adam makes a mean drink, and Vanessa makes them yummy!!!! I highly recomend anything funky she offers you up, you will not be disappointed!
Anyhow, we also got alot accomplished at this last meeting -- there will be signs and posters all over the area, so keep an eye out! Also, our early bird pull for $100.00 from the 50/50 is September 4, 2009 , so make sure you get your tickets soon!

    We are getting there!!!

    Well,

I finally got to check out Andy’s Place in Poughkeepsie for our meeting, and it was great! Not just the food – the service, the ambiance, the drinks… all top notch and definitely a must do again!!! By the way, I recommend Nachos and Quesadillas at Andy’s… you won’t be disappointed!

Aside from munching on great food, we got a lot accomplished at this last meeting. Ashley and Jennifer got all the raffle tickets made into books, Heather is still rockin’ with raffle tickets, and we are going to be starting to ask for donations from various restaurants and businesses. New shirts have also been ordered, so we will be selling those as well.

This coming Thursday we will be at Gentleman Jim’s for our meeting, a hot spot on Thursday nights and we always feel at home when we are there. If you are planning on going to Jim’s, I would recommend getting a steak: Prime Rib, Sirloin, whatever – everything is great, but their steak is out of this work.

Anyhow, I am off to write an agenda and start working on getting the word out more… If anyone has any questions, do not hesitate to ask!!!

    Jenn

    OOPS Again!!

    Hey everyone,
It was brought to my attention that using the nickname provided to me by some of the team for our Ralph Alongi Memorial Poker Run for Hospice may be politically incorrect and offensive to some. It was given to me as a play on the Seinfeld "Soup Nazi" episode, as I can be a pain in the rump before the poker run (and this year is no different!!). Anyhow, from now on, I will only refer to myself as Jenn, and if anyone was offended, I apologize. See you all soon!!!

    ALMOST TWO MONTHS LEFT!!!

Well, our last meeting for the Poker Run was at the River Station in Poughkeepsie, NY, and are making some real progress. The food there is great by the way, we had this Baked Brie appetizer, Bruschetta, and Nachos -- all out of this world.
The first batch of Raffle tickets went out, and Heather (aka the Ticket Nazi) has already sold $150.00 worth!! That is going to come in handy for our early bird Raffle drawing of $100.00 on September 4th!!!!! She is awesome, going to make the rest of us have to catch up to her! We also got the Pre-Registration Tickets underway, and they are being sold as we speak. It will make it easier for people who want to take care of some of the details ahead of time.
Anyhow, we are going to be checking out Andy's Place on August 4th for our next meeting -- they were kind enough last year to donate, and wqe want to show some Hospice love -- as Mark would say anyway! Be on the lookout, we are going to be putting up posters and selling tickets for registration and the 50/50 raffle all over the place. Don't forget what an important cause this is for. Hospice, Inc. goes out of their way on a daily basis to provide support and services to those who are terminally ill, as well as their families -- giving back is the least we can do...

Thanks for stopping by the site -- I look forward to seeing you all soon!

    We are getting there...

Well, we are just about three months until the best Poker Run of the year.... We are posted on a bunch of web sites now -- all the ones who have listed us are posted here. There are some great people who are helping us out this year. It seems like more years we do this, the more wonderful people we meet who are willing to jump in. We have our next meeting set up for July 16th, and are going to the River Station. The River Station on Main Street in Poughkeepsie is an awesome place with great food, staff who make sure you are taken care of, and a great view from their deck!!! Since we have begun the Poker RUn for Hopsice, inc, they have gone above and beyond for us with donations and support. Thanks guys, and we look forward to seeing you!

    June 4, 2009 Meeting

We are already well on our way this year to making it better than last year! Best Buy has agreed to provide us with a sizable donation, Dutchess Beer has made us some wonderful signs and are giving us some door prizes and such for the event, and we are posted on a number of sites including motorcyclemonster.com, sowrides.com. and with Billy the Biker. We also have a new volunteer, joining us this year -- I've seen her sell tickets, so watch out!! We have four bands prividing us music this year -- Last Call, Madd Dog, Blues in a Bottle, and Mike and Bernie Acoustics. The meeting was great, we got alot accomplished... we still have more to do though! One cool thing we are changing this year is we are going to have an early bird drawing on September 4, 2009 for the 50/50, and te winner of that will get $100.00. Another thing is that we will be selling pre-registration tickets as well.

Our next meeting is not until July 16, 2009, but I will keep you all updated as changes happen!

    Oops!

I forgot to put in the date of our run -- it's October 4, 2009 at the American Legion Post 1302 @ 55 Overlook Road in Poughkeepsie, NY
    May 12

    So many changes so soon!!!

We had our first meeting, and are well underway of having another kick-ass year!!!! Madd Dog, Last Call, and Bernie and Mike Acoustics will be joining us for our fourth annual Ralph Alongi Memorial Poker Run for Hospice, and Blues in a Bottle will be joining us as well. We were sad to hear that Freak Accident is not together anymore, but are hopeful that the guys will come out and party with us again.

We will be having our two raffles again this year as well, the 50/50 and the "Wheelbarrow of Cheer." Last year we got over $1,000.00 for the 50/50, and the wheelbarrow was chock-filled with bottles of booze from some of the best establishments in Dutchess County. Most of our donors have been giving to us for the last three years, and in spite of times beign tough, most have already told us they will again commit to giving....

Our meeting was at the Brown Derby, a new old place right on Main Street in Poughkeepsie. We had some great food for reasonable prices, and they were more than acoomodating to our needs. Although we cannot wait to get back to the Derby, we are going to tour as many of the great places whom have donated to us as we can. Our next meeting os on June 4, 2009, and we will be going to the Dutch Cabin in Poughkeepsie.

Keep checking in to our site, and find out the newest and greatest information. There are so many people helping out and giving, we are psyched for this year!

    Hey Everyone,

We are on our way to having our fourth annual Ralph Alongi Memorial Poker Run for Hospice, Inc! The letter of intent was faxed to Hospice today, and May 7 is our first meeting. Each year we have worked really hard to make the event better and better, and this year will be no different.
